WEEK 1
ACTIVITY 1
Category: Household
Sub-category: Air Humidifier (appliances)
First question:
Humidifiers are devices that emit water vapor or steam to increase moisture levels in the air.
Humidifiers work according to the principle of evaporation
It consists of a motor for the air flow and a humidifier surface, which is in direct contact with water. A fan generates an airflow that applies water to the humidifier surface. The water evaporates and is transported by the air flow out of the device into the room air.
(Evaporation. Condensation. Mass transfer. Heat transfer)
Second question:
Chemical devices. Provides convenience to users and has particular chemical transformation which is from the liquid state, water, to the gaseous state, water vapor or steam. It is convenient for users as air humidifiers exist in variable sizes and have smaller ones as well, which makes it more portable, saves space in your living area while decreasing the growth of mold and mildew to avoid an abundance of dust mites.
Using the humidifier as an example it takes distilled water→water vapour→moist air
